Résumé : |
The goal of this thesis is to determine whether we are witnessing a replacement of human decision-making within the financial services industry, and if so to what extent.
In order to achieve this, we have carried out both theoretical and empirical research and analyses. In our theoretical review, first we delve into the theory surrounding human decisionmaking, as a broad concept as well as specifically applied to the financial services industry. Secondly, we review the current literary and theoretical states of affairs in terms of Artificial Intelligence, as to what it is exactly, how it has evolved and its application in finance today. And finally, as a comparative measure to Artificial Intelligence, we review High-frequency trading, its historical evolution and the benefits, and risks and criticisms it has carried with it. In part 2, with our empirical research, we carry out and analyse interviews with two experienced and well-positioned financial services industry professionals, to get their take on what our theoretical and literary review told us, and the hypotheses we developed thanks to the aforementioned literary review. Full transcript of both interviews can be found in Appendixes 1 and 2. And finally, to conclude our paper, in part 3, we provide our concluding remarks to the paper, in which we demonstrate the validation, or not, of our three hypotheses, and provide a general conclusion as to the links between our literary review and empirical research, and what those links means for our hypotheses, and for the general premise of the paper. |
